Oliver Wacker, head of East Asia affairs of the Association of German Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers, told Xinhua News Agency on September 6, 2019 that the German machinery manufacturing industry is looking forward to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with China.

Wacker noted that China is a major export market for German machinery and engineering equipment and a major overseas investment destination for German machinery manufacturing companies. At the same time, Germany has the main customer base of Chinese machinery and equipment in Europe, and it is in the interest of both Germany and China to continue this successful cooperation.

German machinery manufacturers have not only supported the development of Chinese engineering technology, but also invested heavily in China, and "there is room for further development," Wacker said. He stressed that the development of German machinery manufacturing depends on an open market and an economic environment that can provide reliable investment conditions.

With more than 3,200 member companies, the Association is one of the largest machinery manufacturing trade associations in Europe. At present, Germany has a total of about 6,400 machinery manufacturing enterprises, the overall research and development investment accounts for about 10% of the output value, is the main source of innovation in Germany.
